South Sudan’s first year of independence has been marked by oil and border conflicts with its northern neighbour Sudan. Thousands of people have been returning from the north to the new nation, where many now live in refugee camps with only makeshift shelter and scant medical provision. Photojournalist Fabio Bucciarelli visited the Turalei refugee camp with CCM, an Italian NGO with offices in Juba.
