Since 2011, Bucciarelli has worked on a long-term project focused on the consequences that conflicts have on civilians and on the largest exodus of migrants and refugees after World War II.

The search for humanity in tragedy and the focus on the man rather than on the refugee becomes the starting point for the long journey, where the dream has become the engine of a devastating journey in search of refuge.

This photo is part of the multiplatform project “The Dream”. The book (Fotoevidence, New York, 2015) has been recognized by Time Magazine as one of the best photo books of the year and the reportage has been awarded the first prize at Picture of the Year International, World Understanding Award. The Dream Project has been exhibited in International fairs including Aipad New York, Photo London, and Milan’s MIA, and shown in a solo exhibition at New York Bronx Documentary Centre and Sofia’s Synthesis Art Gallery.

Description

Refugees already landed from the rescue ship, walking from the port’s dock to the first reception center in Augusta (Italy), June 2015.

The photo has been taken with an hand made pinhole camera, the Pinolina, built and designed ad-hoc according the photographer’s needs. The choice of using a pinhole camera is meant to de-contextualize an over-documented topic by providing iconic images and evoking the emotional element that characterizes the dream of the humanity making up this huge exodus.

The artwork is delivered unframed, with the signed certificates of authenticity included. The photograph is printed in the archival 100% Cotton FineArt paper Hahnemühle Photo Rag Bright White 310gsm, selected for every body of work, using the highest quality archival inks.

We advise a delivery period of up to 3-4 weeks for your print. For any information or if you would like your print sooner please contact projects@fabiobucciarelli.com.
