Syrian children sit in their car on the way to the Masnaa border crossing to return to Syria and escape the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, on October 3, 2024. Hundreds of thousands of Syrians fled their homeland over the last decade due to the civil war. Welcomed by Lebanon, they are now forced to flee this country as well, driven out by Israeli bombings, seeking refuge once again – this time in Syria.

Description

CONTEXT

Since the start of Israel’s military campaign in Lebanon, over 1.2 million people have been displaced and forced to abandon their homes due to relentless airstrikes. Entire families have sought refuge in overcrowded shelters, schools, and makeshift camps, while others undertake perilous journeys across borders in search of safety. The ongoing violence has not only devastated Lebanon’s infrastructure but has also deepened the refugee crisis in a region already struggling with immense humanitarian challenges.
